Our multidisciplinary team of experts help you through these life changes psychologically, nutritionally and medically prior to and after surgery. Bariatric surgery is expensive and life-changing, so be ready. Contact us now and talk to us about what happens after bariatric surgery.
Changes in Physical Health after Bariatric Surgery
The most noticeable change you’ll make will be the one you see the most – your face. If you are a healthy eater and an exerciser, then you’ll shed tons of weight in the first year after surgery. Because you’re going to buy new clothes more often because you’re shedding and as you get thinner you have more options.
And bariatric surgery will give you a new lease on life. Several patients reduce or even conquer obesity related diseases like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type II diabetes. And those with sleep apnea and other sleep disorders generally do improve.

Emotional Changes

Emotional Changes
Many patients do not fully grasp the magnitude of the changes they will experience following bariatric surgery. We provide extensive psychological care to help patients prepare for these adjustments. Some patients feel a heightened sense of security as they see the physical changes resulting from their lifestyle modifications. Others may find it more challenging to adapt to these changes. Frustration can arise if weight loss progress is slow, and you may find that your personal and professional relationships are impacted as well. It is essential to prepare for the potential changes in your life and relationships that can accompany bariatric surgery.

Support Network
You will only be successful in your bariatric surgery if you have a supportive community. Even if it is only 1 or 2 family members or friends to cheer you on can help tremendously.
In our integrative bariatric program, our team of trained psychologists are available for our surgery patients 24/7 to consult one-on-one or by video call. Each week of follow-up from our medical and psychological staff for the first six months following surgery, then every month for six months, then every three months, until we meet your expectations.
